Step One: Consultation
Contact me with an initial description of the stationery you would like and I will send you a few questions to answer about your wedding and vision for your design. Once these are completed and returned, and I have a better understanding of what you would like, we can arrange a one hour consultation or telephone discussion to talk through stationery options. This is the ideal opportunity to discuss your wedding plans in more detail, talk about any ideas you have in mind and run through options for paper, envelopes, colours and calligraphy styles.
Step Two: Bespoke Brief
Shortly after the consultation, you will be sent a custom brief and quote for the order, which will include everything we have discussed. This will need to be approved, signed and returned, along with an initial deposit and the wording for the content for your stationery items, before any design work can begin. At this stage, you will also be sent a copy of our Terms and Conditions which you will be asked to sign.
Please note: As all stationery collections are custom designed, they are all priced individually. Please contact me for more information about how stationery is priced, or to request a quote.
Step Three: Design
Your stationery items will then be designed in-house. The process is personally managed by myself, and every aspect, from the illustrative drawings to the calligraphy lettering, is completed by hand to match your brief. The designs will be sent to you as digital proofs to check, and there can be up to two rounds of amendments for your stationery items, should you wish to send feedback, make tweaks or request minor changes. Once these are completed, the final proof will be sent for you to approve and an invoice will be sent for the second payment, which will be 50% of the order balance.
Step Four: Print and Post
The approved designs will then be letterpress printed. This part of the process requires a great deal of craftsmanship, and every step, from mixing the printing inks into the chosen colour to hand pressing each item, will be completed with care and precision. Each invitation or reply card will be paired with a matching FSC certified envelope (meaning that it is made with pulp from responsibly managed forests) and, when all the printed designs have been completed and checked, an invoice for the final payment will be sent to you. Once received, your order will be packaged and posted to you.
Invitations should be posted out to guests two to three months before the wedding (or at least four months before if you are planning a destination wedding), so it is advisable to have ordered your invitations at least six months before the wedding date. It usually takes between four and eight weeks to design and print a wedding stationery order, so this will allow plenty of time after the designs have been printed and delivered to you, for you to send them to guests. Please note that the design and print time can increase depending on the complexity or size of the order.
Each collection is custom designed, no matter how big or small. I can accept orders for invitations, as well as other accompanying stationery items, and I am able to create co-ordinating suites of stationery, which have a consistent colour palette and design so that each piece works seamlessly with the next. See here for more information about the stationery items I offer.
Due to the nature of letterpress, I cannot supply hard copies of designs before they are printed. However, I will send you a digital proof to check before going ahead with the order. Please check the wording of your stationery thoroughly before approving the designs for print - changes cannot be made once the items have been printed.
